I really enjoy this series! I actually wish it was longer but if you enjoyed this definitely check out her other works such as Yona of the dawn and NG life! Mugen Spiral Vol 1 Mizuho Kusanagi Books Reviews
This is such an awesome book! It is great for anyone who likes manga that has comedy, love, some fighting, and a great story. My only disappointment is that there are only 2 volumes.
So my biggest draw to Mugen Spiral was the fact that there are only two volumes in the series. Yeah! I won't be waiting three years to find out how the story ends this time. Overall the art is very good and though the story seemed rushed at times I still enjoyed it none the less. If you like Inu Yasha you will probably like Mugen Spiral as it has simalar themes.
This manga was pure joy.
The artwork is wonderful and different, the paneling is comprehensible, and the story itself is gold. Sure, other mangas hold romance between a demon and some 'holier' person (whether it be human or not), but the heroine, Yayoi, is not a chip off the old box. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's tired of weepy main characters... Thank goodness Yayoi is different.
I would say this is one of my more favored mangas. I highly recommend you buy it if you're into romance, demons, and great art.
This magical high school girl meets demon tale brings both Her Majesty's Dog and Demon Diary to mind and might appeal to fans of those series. Yayoi, 78th Head of the Suzuka clan, can control the 108 spirits of the Realm of the Dead. Ura, a demon prince, wants to devour her, thereby attaining her great power for himself. The premise is intriguing but I found the manga to suffer from lack of character development (primarily Yayoi, who doesn't seem to have any quirks or personality). I also wanted to see more of the 108 spirits Yayoi controls. I mean, what's the point of having so many when we won't get to see all of them before the series ends?
This manga appears to be a two-shot. This book advertised volume 2 as being the final one and I rather expected the series to run longer.
The artwork, which I haven't mentioned yet, is gorgeous and worth the price of the book.
Though I expected more, I'm still looking forward to volume 2!
Yayoi is a descendent from a long line of mystics. She has a power within her that attracts demons. They want it so that they can be stronger. One of the demons that she has cursed is Ura, the demon Prince in line for the throne. In order to acquire her power he literally has to eat her, and she has turned him into a cat with the power of spiritual beads to prevent him consuming her. Other demons are coming after her and she has to occasionally release Ura in order to protect her. The problem is that the worst demon in all the demon realm (next to Ura) has come to claim her power.. His brother, Ouga.
This series reminds me a little too much of Inu Yasha. That may just be that it's dealing with demon brothers trying to become stronger. However, it is still a fun short series worth the read. The art is quite striking at it and the characters are very compelling. I like it.
~3.5-4/5
(This review is for the whole series.)
After reading NG Life, I knew I had to pick this small series up. I love that one, and already knew that this was ended early, but wanted to read it anyway. And I’m so glad I picked it up.
The humor, unlike in most of NG Life, is much more downplayed, and not at all overdone in this series. I appreciated that a lot.
The art doesn't look that great on the covers, but it is better in the books.
I loved the characters. Yayoi is a great heroine, and Ura is a really good guy, even if he starts
out bad and tries to act like he’s not. The chemistry between them was apparent from the beginning, and I loved seeing it develop. I do wish there was a little more to it, to see them really come together at the end, but I’m happy with how they ended. I think they fit together really well, and if this series had been longer, we would have seen a lot more.
There was a big plot line with Ura’s brother, and I don’t think that ever really resolved, sadly. I would have liked to see it, but I still think the series ended on a pretty high note, despite it. I was actually surprised that I was happy with the ending.
I definitely wanted more, and would love to read more of her books, but I’m really happy with this one. I would even recommend picking it up, if you’re interested at all.

I totally loved this book, one of the best manga series I've ever read. The only downside is that because it is so short, the end of the series leaves a lot of loose ends.
I really enjoy this series! I actually wish it was longer but if you enjoyed this definitely check out her other works such as Yona of the dawn and NG life! They are both some of my favorite manga of all time!
